February 2009 Archives

Hello! This photo above has absolutely no relevance to what I'm about to tell you. I was just scrounging for an image and came across the Christmas treats I made and it made me happy. I didn't actually get to give out the Christmas treats because we got snowed in, but that's a whole other story.
I've gone MIA for a few weeks and there are too many things to report. First and foremost, we just moved to a new apartment and though it was only two blocks, the effort was mind-numbing. It's day five in our new place and it's pretty comfortable. I've unpacked most of the boxes and am trying to figure out how to decorate Kumi's room on a non-existent budget and how to deal with an ant problem.
The art show has been great and we are going to be on TV!!! Check us out on Thursday, February 5th on King 5 Evening Magazine. I met the host John Curley, who was very personable. He breezed into the gallery by himself, asked me and the gallery owner some questions and wondered if any of the dresses would fit his 7-year-old daughter. I was expecting some sort of interview on camera, but then John left. A few minutes later a cameraman showed up (without John), took some footage and that was that. We have no TV so I won't be able to watch it tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to seeing the online version later on. The cameraman was definitely getting clips of Kumi running around, so my 30-month-old will have her moment in the limelight for a blip of a second.
Potty training has gone down the toilet and not in a good way. It's amazing how disruptive moving is...I long for our own house one day, but for now, our little apartment is feeling quite cozy. I keep checking apartment therapy for inspiration and am heartened that many families live in far smaller quarters and still manage to make their places look gorgeous and comfortable. I'll have pictures of our new place some time in the future...
