Baby Octopus

|

Baby octopi have translucent skin and glowing innards. It sounds kind of gross but they're floaty, big-eyed, and distinctly anime-esque - they are indisputably the cutest things I've ever seen.

Wonderland

When I was little, I remember the world feeling like a magical, if somewhat scary, place. I saw this girl clutching onto her mother near Pike Place Market a few weeks ago, and I loved her bright, round ponytail holders. She had a dreamy look on her face and I could tell that there was this fantastic scenery around her that only she could see. She caught me looking at her, smiled and hid her face in her mother's billowing skirt. Adorable.

More experimentation with Japanese tissue paper...

I've just had a most satisfying Sunday of cleaning, purging, and organizing so I'm a bit spent (I hadn't done much housework since the start of my work-consumed schedule so the apartment was in quite a state). I've done my taxes, paid my bills and have even stocked up on fruits and veggies and freshly baked 8-grain bread. I'm scaring myself with all this productivity.

Stubborn

This girl very much represents my personality. Even when I'm in way over my head, I refuse to accept help, convinced that I can do everything on my own. I'm learning how to be less dogmatic about things, but it's hard.

I've discovered gorgeous Japanese tissue paper that I'm planning on using to create a home-made calendar. I didn't get around to buying a calendar this year and the only ones left are for golf lovers or have weird dog trivia. I've been using the paper in my illustrations too.

Getting Back into the Groove

|

It's been awhile...I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to adjust to a new job, new schedule, new everything. It feels like spring. I have a bunch of brand-spanking new illustrations in the works as well, which I'll start posting very soon.

Two weeks ago, MF and I went up to the mountains and stayed in a pristinely clean cedar cabin for a few days. Hikes, cozying up by the fireplace, reading and drawing and RELAXING...wonderful. I just got wind of this whole Flickr craze and I got myself signed up and so I'll be adding photos soon too!

More soon....
