Quilts on my mind

A few months ago, I made this very simple quilt using the instructions from Katiedid

It was a very easy quilt and I was able to make it in a half a day. I love this fabric with the trucks and fire engines. It's Japanese, of course, by Kokka.

I used a gray linen/rayon blend for the backing and the red binding is a linen/cotton blend.

When we went to Indiana for our end-of-the-summer-vacation, we visited MF's grandparents' property in Brown County. It's beautiful down there with lush greenery, several lakes and lovely hiking trails. But what left the strongest impression on me were the amazing quilts in the cabin.

Most are at least 60 years old, some even older. Here are a few that I snapped:

I'm ready to bust out with my sewing machine again. Quilts! Dresses, pants and smocks for Kumi! Autumnal and wintry wrap skirts for me! So many things to sew and make...I'm excited.
