3 months

|

This is supposed to be the magic month. Today, Kumiko turned 13 weeks old and tomorrow is officially her 3 month birthday. For some lucky parents the babies start to sleep through the night -- we are not so lucky yet. This month she has discovered her hands and her thumb in particular. She interacts with us a lot more and I think she's figuring us out for the suckers that we are.

My favorite Kumiko moments:

- The sweetest, shyest smile she gives me when I first put her in her stroller
- Her high-pitched cooing noises -- she's a morning person and can't seem to stop prattling early in the morn.
- The way she arches her back in the biggest stretch imaginable after a satisfactory feeding
- How, when she is happy, she wriggles her entire body to express her joy
- The way her hair smells so lavender-y and fresh after a bath
- When she tries to explain what is bothering her with her vowel-heavy vocabulary through wimpering cries (agoo, oo-ah, goo-ga)
- Her frowny face

My least favorite Kumiko moments:
- 3am diaper changes
- Projectile spit-ups
- The howling cries if the stroller remains stationary for more than 5 minutes after I first put her in it
- How, when she is unhappy and inconsolable, I feel so helpless and confused

I can't complain though. She is such an easy baby that I often fear that I am totally unequipped to handle the difficult years coming up (how will I discipline her when she refuses to do anything ?? I hear it happens around the age of two and then exponentially grows worse with age). It also helps that M.F. is around a lot so I'm doubly spoiled. For now, I will just enjoy each day.
