Getaway

It has been an unprecedented week of sunshine and bliss -- normally February is endlessly rainy and dreary. It feels like spring is straining to burst from every corner. To celebrate the end of my pregnancy queasiness, we decided to take a weekend trip to the mountains and spontaneously ended up in Roslyn, of Northern Exposure fame.

We spent the night in Huckleberry House, a charming bed and breakfast in downtown Roslyn. I spent a luxurious evening soaking in the claw-footed bathtub while The Honey sipped Washington brewed stout from tap (the tap is on site by an impressive hot tub). We woke up to yet another sunny morning and peering out of the window revealed a landscape of hushed snow-covered houses and invisible chirping birds. After a quick run (him) and before a long walk (me) there's nothing like a hearty home-cooked breakfast of french toast, scrambled eggs and fruit salad accompanied by good conversation with the inn keepers and fellow guests.

Next time we come, we'll make sure to test out the hot tub and watch the complete set of Northern Exposure tapes. A perfect weekend nonetheless.
